Johannesburg - Two suspected hijackers were wounded in a shoot-out with police in Johannesburg on Monday, Gauteng police said.
The two allegedly hijacked a delivery van transporting cellphones in Germiston and locked the driver and a security guard in the back before driving off towards Alexandra township, Colonel Noxolo Kweza said.
The driver called the police. Members of the Johannesburg flying squad stopped the vehicle, which was fitted with a tracking device, on the N3 near the Marlboro off-ramp and a shoot-out ensued.
"Two suspects were wounded and are under police guard in hospital."
The driver and the security guard were not harmed.
