Shoot-out at man's Benoni home

Johannesburg - A shoot-out occurred between police and house robbers in Benoni on Friday afternoon, Gauteng police said.Warrant Officer Jannie van Aswegen said six men held up a home-owner in Morehill, Benoni.The man was outside his house talking to members of his garden service when the six men stormed in and held them up.He was pistol-whipped by one of the men on the side of the head.A neighbour heard the commotion and called the police.The men were running out of the house when police arrived. One was still inside.They shot at police who fired back. No injuries were reported.The men then fled in different directions.Police followed them and launched a massive search, which included a police helicopter.Three of them were found and arrested.The items taken from the home were dropped during the scuffle.Investigations were continuing.
