Johanesburg - Two people were arrested at the weekend for beating a one-year-old baby and a helper in a house robbery in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Sunday."I can't tell you if we are expecting to make any more arrests. We are letting the investigations continue and then we will see what comes out of it," Colonel Eugene Opperman told Sapa on Sunday.He could not say if a stolen laptop and modem was recovered."All we can say is that some stolen property was found."The arrests were made in Alexandra on Saturday night and police were unable to provide specifics on it.The two, aged 23 and 25, are due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Monday, facing charges of attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.The toddler was severely beaten, along with helper Francina Sekhu, in a house robbery in a Randburg suburb on Thursday.On Sunday, Liezel Furlong, spokesperson for the Sandton Medi-Clinic said the girl remained in a serious but stable condition. It was unknown if she had regained consciousness.Sekhu was being treated for serious head injuries.Opperman said the pair would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of aggravated robbery and murder.
